Microsoft Launches Surface-as-a-Service for Enterprises
Microsoft is expanding and over the years it has launched many software and hardware to benefit consumers in numerous ways. Earlier, Microsoft Surface, a Windows-based personal computing device from Microsoft was designed and manufactured exclusively and strictly for consumers, which was available at only consumer retail outlets. It will let employees of the enterprise benefit from the latest hardware and faster performance cycles. The program will allow configuration service providers to offer the Surface devices as a managed service offering to their enterprises. With the help of this solution, enterprises will now be able to deliver comprehensive and well managed end-to-end IT solutions. This initiative is a redefined form of SaaS, widely accepted as Software-as-a-service. The surface-as-a-service has been launched with ALSO, a European configuration service provider (CSP). The company is looking forward to working with other partners to expand globally. It enables better flexibility of solutions and ensures higher customer satisfaction. Microsoft has partnered with companies like Dell, HP, IBM and Booz Allen Hamilton to integrate with their solutions and to sell its Surface hardware through the commercial sales organization. These companies will help them take advantage of its hardware capabilities and focus on advancing in industry-specific solutions, government and public sector solutions. The solution is also set to be available to Surface Authorized Distributors and Cloud Solution Providers, offering a different way of bringing surface devices to enterprises. The company also introduced the Surface Multi-National Purchasing Program, which aids to the global expansion of the scheme and helps them in streamlining the process of adding surface hardware to multi-national enterprises. In addition to this, the program also saw the launch of Surface Membership Program, which lets members and customers buy Surface devices and hardware in reduced monthly payments. The membership program gives enterprises access to Surface Pro 4, Surface Book and Surface 3 models and allows free upgrades to them. The Surface-as-a-service initiative seems to be limited to just enterprise customers as of now. This program is sure to bring improvement in solutions provided by the enterprises.
