Free Web Directories Increase both Traffic And Profit

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

By: Dalvin Rumsey

Perhaps many of you are wondering what the best solution to increasing traffic and profitability is. Well, my first and only option would be using a web directory. Not sure what this means? Imagine a very well organized place where you can find all sort of information, which is divided into several categories. Therefore, should you decide to submit your website to directories, you will be on the right way to boosting up your profit, your web traffic, as well as the search engine ranking that your website gets.

There are many reasons to make you choose web directories. Your first reason should be the fact that these web directories manage to attract a large amount of traffic. The people who are interested in a specific category will most definitely open all the websites they can place within that particular category. This way, the website that you have submitted in a category you will gain a lot of traffic.Having many links that lead to your website is another good strategy.

The people browsing on the Internet will more easily find the links to your website, as being in a directory will get you numerous back links. The whole point is that the higher the number of links pointing to your website, the better search engine ranking you will receive. The best outcome of this rather complicated state of facts is that the users or the clients of your website will increase! This is the main thing to keep in mind when considering submitting your website to web directories.

What person does not dream of having the name of his or her website among the first ones listed on the search engines? The only way to achieve this is optimizing the website for certain keywords. The anchor text linking the directory to your website should have a phrase clearly spells the functions that your website offers. This will most surely bring better rankings for your website in search engines.

The credibility of your website is quite important to the surfers, so try submitting your website to a quality directory. This will assure your clients that the website has successfully passed all the tests involving numerous standards and reviews. On the other hand, you should be careful not to submit your website to directories too many times! Keep in mind the fact that the sponsored links are usually listed first on the search engines, so try to use this in order to increase your traffic!

Keyword Research That Works

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

By: John Ugoshowa

On the internet, keywords are terms or words that relate to particular topics. Keyword research will involve various aspects, such as finding sales oriented keywords or driving maximum qualified users to increase their online sales.

Keyword research is the first step towards a successful search engine optimization campaign. You have to be very careful when selecting keywords, as it can be very tricky to select targeted keywords for a website.

The selection of keywords should always be based on various aspects such as product names, services, brands, or general terms. Often times, people forget about targeting geographical terms when they have global presence.

When doing keyword research, it’s highly recommended to do a very thorough market research analysis to find the best keywords used by search engines to find products and services online - and find out what keywords are targeted by competitors who are doing well in marketing on the internet.

The first step in finding the best keywords is to make a list of the products, topics, and services that you offer. You can also make good use of your website logs to know which keywords have brought you the traffic in the past.

Be sure to select keywords that clearly define your business and products to drive traffic from the search engines. There are some websites which get high levels of traffic through general keywords although they might not end up being sales.

Today, users of search engines are aware of how they work, for searching products and services on the net. Users always look for the better products, locations, etc. Therefore, you should cover all terms for each - products, locations, etc.

There are numerous tools available which will help you identify keywords that are suitable for search engines. The challenge here, is to determine which keyword is the best to generate traffic.

Search Engine Submission DOES Work!

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Search Engine Submission is basically a pain in the rear end. I am sorry to be so blunt but really to get your business into the search engines it either costs you a fortune in time or money.

So is it really worth submitting your website to the search engines? Too right it is. I run a number of businesses and for the last 4 years I have been using search engine submission to increase my business turnover globally. This is how I know it works.

For the 1st few months I had my websites submitted to the search engines every single month religiously. I noted as the time progressed so did my Google ranking and my global sales. Then I decided to stop. This was a silly move because what happened was my competitors muscled in on my ranking and as my ranking declined so did my global sales.

Of course I began having my sites submitted to the search engines again. Gradually my businesses were climbing the rankings and I found my sites continuously in the top 3-4 pages of Google.

But this is not just about Google. To really reach the global markets you need to get your site into as many quality search engines as possible. There are thousands of search engines out there and I knew there was no way I could submit individually to each and every one of them. So I went hunting for a way to get my sites into all the big search engines and all the most popular search engines in one hit.

Wow! Once I started submitting my sites to over 1000 of the most popular search engines my business sales globally and domestically really soared.

Still sceptical? Yeah I don’t blame you. Let me help a little. You can submit your site to the search engines once and once only – sure you will get into the search engines but you may be way down the line – anywhere for page 10 onwards. Statistics show that when people are searching on search engines they tend not to go any further than the third or fourth page of the search. If you are not there they will not find you – your competitor will get the sale.

Many of the search engine submission companies guarantee a placement on the search engines either in the top ten or within the first 3 pages. This is ok and they may ask the most horrendous fee possible do this but as soon as a competitor who has been on regular submissions submits you will lose your spot. This is money wasted.

The only way, and remember I have proven this to my financial detriment, you will maintain a high ranking in the search engines is to submit on a regular basis – a bare minimum of once a month.

So what about cost? Well you should not be paying huge sums for this service. I pay only $10 a month (Australian) for my service. You really shouldn’t pay more than that. Your are not looking for bells and whistles just a company that will do the job, provide you with reporting after each submission and give great customer service either via email or via their website. I get all of this and more!

Whatever you do once you are submitting your site to the search engines monitor your statistics. These are a great gauge as to what is happening with your website hits. You will certainly know where your hits are coming from and that the submission to the search engines is the most lucrative and smart way to increase your business sales.

How To Increase Your Website Traffic 5 Simple Free Methods

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

By: Stanley Ng

1. Work on SEO.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. In detail, Search Engine Optimization is the process of making Web site pages attractive to search engines, and the great thing is that it’s not hard to learn and apply the basics to your own Web site(s). SEO perhaps is the best thing in terms of free Web site promotion, because you won’t need to spend much time on it. Through working on SEO, you can improve the page rankings of your Web pages and drive more traffic to your site.

Tip: The most important thing to work with SEO is using keyword. You need to describe your website with the most valuable keywords you can come up (e.g, the unique keywords that can make your site special, standing out from the crowd)

2. Write articles.

This Web site promotion strategy has an advantage which is you have someone promoting your Web site for you. And if you get your articles published on popular, long-lived Web sites or in well-known magazines, they can be sitting there promoting your Web site for a long, long time with no further effort on your part. Anyway, there are something you need to work on. First, you have to have ability to write well on a topic or topics that other people have interest in reading and/or publishing. Second, you have to find the quality places (websites, e-magazines) for your articles to be published and persuade the people making the decisions to publish them. However you also need to mention the publishers that you are willing to let them publish your article for free.

Tip: Find the Web sites or magazines you want to be published on first, and then spend some time reading the content to see what type of material they might want . Also check whether your knowledge can cover that material. Then tailor your material to that particular site or magazine’s needs.

3. Get others to link to you.

Again, you get free web site promotion when other people put a link to your site on their site. You also can rank higher on the search engines. Why? All of the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) use inbound links as an important part of the formula that determines a page’s rank. The other search engines also copy the same formula. When you choose a link, be aware that it’s not just all about the number; it’s the quality of the links that really matters. So you want to focus your reciprocal linking efforts on relevant quality links. The good way is to search for and identify relevant sites that you would like to have link to yours and then send their webmasters email requesting a link on their site, offering a link on your site in return.

Tip: You can check a Web site or Web page’s ranking by using SEO tools such as Page Rank Lookup and the Link Popularity Tool. Google’s Toolbar also has a Page Rank Display feature.

4. Become a social networker.

Most social networking sites, they point out, allow you to create a profile for free. Joining social networks which already have members and traffic is a good way to get free traffic for your website. There’s no reason why you can’t belong to several social networks at once (except time constraints), but you will want to choose the network communities you join carefully.

5 Ways to Clean Up Your Site for Search Engines

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Every Webmaster should be aware that capturing Search Engine traffic is one of the key agenda on their priority list. Although there are now many Search Engine Optimizers who can do a clean job for a reasonable price, why not do it yourself and make use of the additional budget for other web site promotion channels?

This article focuses on the five most important methods to make sure any site is well prepared for the Search Engine indexing.

The first method is to ensure that your site does not require any password to log in if you want the content to be indexed in the Search Engine index. Search Engine bots are unable to view any content that needs authentication. Therefore, it is always essential to allow a page to be generally accessed if you want the content to be displayed in the search engine.

Cleaning the web pages URLs is also an important task as the bots will ignore those with session ids. Session ids are best to be avoided if you want the specific content to be indexed by the search engines. Although the bots are not so strict on dynamic URLs, it is advisable to keep these URLs short. Refer to the Google Webmaster Guidelines if you want more information on this issue.

The next useful method is to utilize pure text links as your internal site navigation. To increase the number of overall indexed pages in a site, it is strongly recommended to only use text links to point from pages to pages. Some web sites use powerful JavaScript or Flash plug-ins for internal linking and often find themselves in difficulty finding their pages in the Search Engine Result Page (SERP).

Improving a page’s ranking often means amending the title of the page. It is a common mistake in every web sites that the titles are cramped with tons of keywords. This is not a good practice as Search Engine will not give a good weighing to all the keywords. Therefore, the title description of a page has to be unique and describes the page’s content, for best results.

The last important method is to keep it simple. For search engine indexing, a simple site without much complexity will facilitate the indexing. An excellent way is to use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for the designing of a site. Using CSS will not only reduce the indexing time but will also improve the overall maintainability of a site.

The Quickest, Most Effective Web Linking Strategy

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

By: Terry Detty

There are a number of ways to build web links pointing to your web website. We even have useful software that can help you build links rapidly.

There is controversy with some of the methods for building links. For instance there are those who say reciprocal links are now virtually worthless. These are the links that webmasters exchange between themselves. Actually it is not accurate to say that they are useless because to start with, reciprocal links are better than no links at all in terms of search engine optimization (SEO). Then there is the fact that they can be responsible for substantial amounts of traffic coming to your website.

Favored Way To Generate One-Way Web Links
Still, the favored links to generate are one-way links and one of the most effective ways of generating them is by writing valuable useful articles and posting them in high traffic article directories complete with links pointing back to your website.

However not all article marketing campaigns aimed at generating links and traffic are as effective as they should be. It is really just a question of folks not understanding too well how to best use articles.

The first thing to note is that your any article marketing campaign will be three times more effective when you have three links in each article pointing back to your website. One link should be somewhere in the main text of the article and the other two should be in the resource box at the end of the article.

Then it is also much more useful to point the links to a specific page on your web website or blog website rather than on the home page. This is because your home page will be general and yet those following your links will tend to be interested in specific information related to the article that they have just read. If they cannot find this article quickly, they will tend to exit from you website very quickly which is not a good thing because you want them to linger for as long as possible. The longer they stay the more valuable they will be to you. Secondly in terms of SEO, it is best for you to work one specific page at a time and move to another only when you have done all you can in terms of promoting and generating links to the first one.

Articles Are Better Than Mini Websites for Web Linking And Traffic
In the old days, one early strategy used by webmasters was to create dozens of mini websites whose sole purpose was to direct traffic to the main website. There are a number of technical obstacles with this strategy, one of them being that search engines frown on it. However not many people are aware of the fact that articles posted at high traffic article directories do a better job than any mini website would.

One way this happens is that quality articles posted at article directories will usually get reposted complete with links at other websites. In effect what happens is that the number of links pointing to your website virally multiplies. This could never happen with mini websites that also require a lot of work in terms of maintenance in sharp contrast to a web master using an article that they write and post once and then forget about.

The Quality of Articles Will Impact On Both Your Web Linking And Traffic Generation
But not all articles have the same effect in terms of generating web links and traffic. Badly written articles with little or no useful information will not be as effective. While posting them will create links pointing to your website, they will end up doing little else. Few will read them and even fewer will re-post them at their websites.

The quality of the articles that you use for your marketing will determine just how effective your campaign will be in generating both web links back to your website and ultimately traffic. Well written articles with catchy headlines will always perform a lot better than ordinary articles with little or no valuable information.

In Conclusion
While using well written articles can be the quickest, most effective way to rapidly create web links back to your website, an understanding of the technique and the quality of the articles will always have a major impact on just how effective each campaign of this nature is.
